How to Color ERD Diagrams in ERwin

If you wish to color your ERD Diagrams, here is how you can do it in ERwin.

How to color one table

To change the color of one table, follow these steps.

1. Select the table you want to color by clicking inside the table.

2. Right-click on the table of your choice and select Override Fonts and Colors...

3. Go to Table tab and click the paint icon next to Fill Options.

4. Select the style. The Fill Style is either

  • Solid, the table is in one color,
  • Pattern, the table is patterned in a pattern of your choice,
  • Bitmap, using the picture of your choice, or
  • Gradient, with colors gradually going from one color to another.

The Fill Color is the color you want to use.

Color many tables at once

You may also change color of many tables at once.

1. Select several tables by holding Shift button and clicking the tables one by one.

2. Right-click and select Override Fonts and Colors....

3. Go to Table tab and click the paint icon next to Fill Options.

4. Select the style. The Fill Style is either

  • Solid, the table is in one color,
  • Pattern, the table is patterned in a pattern of your choice,
  • Bitmap, using the picture of your choice, or
  • Gradient, with colors gradually going from one color to another.

The Fill Color is the color you want to use.

Change default color for tables in a model

To change a default color for all tables in a model, follow these steps:

1. In the main menu select View and then Themes....

2. In the Theme Editor window click the New icon.

3. Click the Fill Table column in your new theme row.

4. Edit the fill of the table. Click Close.

5. Right-click on the model name and select Properties...

6. Go to the Defaults tab. In the Default Theme section, select the new theme in the drop-down list.

Click Close. You're done!
